Astrid Jorgensen is the founder and driving force behind Pub Choir. With a social media following of close to 50,000 on Facebook and 40,000 on Instagram she is a key Queensland influencer to a broad cross section of the community and leverages her large social media presence in a positive way demonstrating her commitment to making a difference with an innovative approach to philanthropy.
Each Pub Choir session involves learning a song and partnering with a local charity to raise awareness and significant funds. In doing so Astrid has created an innovative, accessible and positive platform for community engagement and change.
Her model seems simple, however it involves great vision and leadership as evidenced by the fact the Pub Choir events for charity attract thousands and sell out in minutes, generating funds for on the ground services and medical research.
Over the past two years, Astrid has singlehandedly raised almost $140,000 for charities and individuals such as: Love Your Sister; MND & Me; Second Chance Program; Black Rainbow; Fleur Barron (specifically for a young girl’s wheelchair); Red House; OzHarvest; Share The Dignity; Children’s Ground and VOTSA.
Astrid nominated Women’s Legal Service as her charity of choice to receive a $2,000 donation sponsored by QIC
