The Welford Sustainable Future Fund was created by The Honourable Rod Welford to ensure future funding for environmental and educational causes in Queensland.
This sub-fund will be distributed across five charities: two supporting environmental conservation; the Environmental Defenders Office and Queensland Trust for Nature; two for progressive change: The Australia Institute and The Centre for Public Integrity; and another for education funding scholarships at Griffith University.
For those who remember him as the state’s Minister for Environment and Natural Resources, Attorney General and Minister for Education, Training and the Arts, this comes as no surprise. Rod Welford’s long-standing advocacy for environmental and social causes shaped not only public policy but also public consciousness. Now, the Welford Sustainable Future Fund ensures those values will continue to ripple through Queensland long into the future and beyond.
