An End of Year Celebration in partnership with our long time sponsor QUT and Philanthropy Australia has become a rather special tradition to round off a year of giving in Queensland. This year we took the opportunity to make it the official launch of our new name Queensland Community Foundation and we were joined by 135 philanthropists, academic leaders, corporates and charities who have all been part of the story of our new brand.
Our panel discussion featured four of our 2023 Queensland Philanthropists of the Year:
- Maureen Stevenson – Queensland Community Philanthropist of the Year 2023
- Bob McCosker OAM – Queensland Environmental Philanthropist of the Year 2023
- Famin Ahmed – Queensland Emerging Philanthropist of the Year 2023
- James Teh – who holds the Queensland Philanthropy Innovation Award 2023 with his co-founder Michael Curran
Both Bob and James are proud QUT alumni as is the ABC Broadcaster Rebecca Levingston who facilitated the panel discussion on ‘Why I Give’. We will have the video of this conversation to share soon if you weren’t able to join us.
Our End of Year raffle was a hot ticket with over $1200 of raffle sales on the night in addition to the online sales enabling us to donate over $5,000 to the National Parks Association of Queensland sub fund that we manage within our portfolio. CEO of NPAQ Chris Thomas was on hand to draw the winning ticket and we are delighted to announce that it was won by Meta Goodman who will no doubt enjoy the Pearl Discovery Experience and the $4,000 gift voucher at Paspaley soon. Second prize of $1,000 Corporate Travel Shares courtesy of Morgans Foundation was Alex McCowan and Anthony Austin won the Riverlife Kayak adventure.
