UMI Arts is an Indigenous organisation.  They hold a number of art exhibitions each year for emerging and seasoned artists and run a music festival Big Talk One Fire to showcase Indigenous artists, dancers and culture.  They also showcase their members’ artwork at the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair and Cairns Indigenous Art Fair.

Umi wanted to engage with the Indigenous community in Cairns, specifically in the suburbs of Manoora, Manunda and Mooroobool to promote art, music and culture.

The North Queensland committee granted $3,000 towards running a free BBQ during the school holidays to draw children and parents to come and experience different art forms and to talk to artists.  We look forward to hearing the creatve fruit this will no doubt bear down the track!
