A student from St Margaret’s Anglican College, a lawyer from Coorparoo, a Senior Vice President from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and Brisbane Airport Corporation were honoured at Queensland Community Foundation’s (QCF) 2015 Philanthropist of the Year Awards ceremony, part of QCF Philanthropy Week from 15-19 June.
The awards were presented by the Honourable Shannon Fentiman, Minister for Communities who was among guests from Queensland’s corporate and not-for-profit sectors gathered at the Hilton in Brisbane.
Over 280 people attended the Awards Luncheon with guest speaker Jan Owen AM Hon Dlitt, CEO Foundation for Young Australians.
QCF Chairperson, Dr John de Groot, said the Philanthropy Awards recognises outstanding individuals and organisations that assist community, voluntary and charity groups in Queensland, with the winners chosen from over 25 nominees.
Philanthropy Week is aimed at raising awareness about philanthropy, honouring those who make an outstanding contribution to the community and advancing support for the State’s charities and community service organisations through sustainable giving.
Recipients of the Junior, Young and Community Philanthropist of the Year awards have the opportunity to nominate a charity of their choice to receive a $2,000 donation from the award sponsors.
